Yes, your job is demanding. Yes, your relationship is stressful. Yes, your family and finances leave something to be desired. Could you live with ease and harmony anyway?
Meditation is the latest buzzword, promising everything from lower blood pressure to spiritual enlightenment. It sounds so easy - sit still, be quiet, count your breath. But you've tried all that and the only thing you discovered was a world class monkey mind.
Take heart. This class will guide you through the basics of meditation in a relaxed, non-intimidating environment. You'll learn about posture, breathing, and various meditation techniques; what to do when your legs get sore and you get sleepy; and which practices will be most helpful for you once you're back home. Our time will be divided between discussions, guided meditation periods, and lots of Q&A.
Dress comfortably. Loose fitting clothes (particularly non-restrictive pants), and socks without holes, put most people at ease!
Cierra Imig is the owner of Mayu Meditation Sanctuary in Denver. She's been a student of meditation for the past ten years and has studied a variety of traditions with some of the country's top meditation instructors. While she values the heritage and teachings of unique lineages, her passion is distilling the commonalities of all meditation practices into something meaningful and applicable for the average Joe.
