Event Overview

Colorado is one of the best places to fly-fish in the world. A great opportunity is right in your backyard! But, have you ever tried fly-fishing? Its harder than it looks! There is a lot that goes into the art and science of the sport, and this class will introduce you to those fundamental topics so you're more prepared to hit the water and succeed.

This class will cover the basics to introduce a novice to the sport. Topics covered will include: intro to the equipment, knot tying, fly selection and entomology, angler etiquette, intro to fish behavior, basic fly casting techniques, and more. Students will learn through a hands on approach to learning and will participate in group activities to enhance the education environment. Fly casting will be taught via experiential techniques and each student will learn the basics of casting with a rod in their hand.

Students will leave this class with the fundamental knowledge of how to fly-fish, allowing them to begin to be self sufficient anglers. You'll know how to pick out the right fly, what knot to use to tie it on, and how to cast that fly to the fish - giving you the confidence and know-how to hook and land your first fish!

Note: This class will start with an indoor presentation at Galvanize and then we'll be walking to a nearby park so students can try their hand at casting. Be sure to bring layers so that you'll be comfortable no matter the weather.

I know this site is called Dabble, but last nights class was much more thorough and hands on than I expected. I have had one experience casting dry fly and that's about it in regards to the subject matter. Well I've done deep sea and spin casting plenty in my life but fly fishing is different, it's an art mixed with science (Daniels words). This class was seriously was worth way more than it cost.

    From Teacher:

Thanks so much Jared! I'm glad you enjoyed it and found it valuable.
