Arts & DIY
Skill level: Beginner - no experience necessary
Learn the basics of pottery by making ceramic dishes using slab building techniques and regular tools that can be found at almost any general goods store.
Students will learn how to roll out a slab of clay by hand, cut the clay into small dish sized shapes, and then stamp a texture, personal message, date, or other saying onto the dish.
These little dishes are perfect to store jewelry, to use as tea bag holders, to use as a candle holder, to mark an important date and more.
Each student will make up to 4 dishes.
Participants will pick up their finished work at River North Workshop two weeks after the workshop.
This quick intro to clay class run approximately 2 hours from 4:30 - 6:40 pm - perfect before heading out to happy hour or dinner on Saturday night.
★Bonus! - Continental Clay is a sponsor for my first two Dabble classes and has generously donated a 25 pound bag of clay that 1 lucky person will receive in this class in a draw.
All ages welcome
The instructor will provide wet clay, all tools, glaze and will fire participant's work.
Hi - I am the creative force behind Ceramicscapes (an art and clay studio) and have been a member of the Colorado Potters Guild since 2008.
I have a BFA in Art with a concentration in ceramics and have been working with clay since 2001. I also teach art to middle and high school students at a charter school in For Collins, CO. Although Fort Collins is an hour north, I travel frequently to Denver to visit family and friends.
I have previously taught after school kid's clay classes at a Denver Public School, The Art Student's League of Denver and Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, CO. In addition, I have also taught basic clay "crafty happy hours" at client's homes. Contact me at cindy@ceramicscapes.com if you are interested in hosting a private party.
