Event Overview
Sculpting for beginners! Learn the basics of carving alabaster, a marble-like stone. The class will cover: what are the tools used in stone sculpture; planning the design of the sculpture and other preparation work; the use of hammer and chisel, files, rasps, and hand power tools to shape the stone. We will also discuss the process of finishing a sculpture, i.e. sanding, polishing, and glossing, but we wont actually finish them given the time constraints of the class. The class includes a small piece of stone for all students to carve and take home.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST
In school I was introduced to stone sculpture in two semesters of classes. Since then I have delved into machining metal and wood, learning valuable lessons, but carving stone was always still a favorite pastime. Now I am going full sail with carving, amassing equipment and honing my skills. I want to make these available to you, so you too can enjoy the art of stone sculpture.
