Event Overview
Do you have a sewing machine sitting on a shelf and collecting dust? Maybe it was a gift or a purchase for yourself with every intention to make use of it and you just haven't gotten around to it? Now is the time to dust it off and put it to use!
In this class Dabblers will learn the basics of using and maintaining a sewing machine. You'll learn to wind a bobbin, thread the machine, adjust the stitching pattern and tension, back stitch, and the basic technique of sewing two pieces of fabric together.
Dabblers will be taken through the steps of sewing a pillow cover. Select unique fabric to make a custom pillow cover you'll be proud of. Then take your pillow cover, creativity and new skills home and move forward with your inspirations to make wonderful things!

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST
Valerie Harpel has been sewing since she could reach the pedal of the sewing machine in her mothers sewing room. Although she has dabbled in a fair share of sewing projects she finds bags and Halloween costumes to be some of the most rewarding.
She earned a bachelors degree in Industrial Design and in 2010 started a business called Valvaska as an outlet for her passion of sewing and designing bags. She also offers private sewing lessons to those who want to fine tune their sewing skills. Valerie enjoys creating and problem solving her own designs as well as projects for clients, friends, and family.
