Event Overview

Wood is a beautiful medium from which to design - but the tools to create with it are sometimes a bit intimidating.

In this basic introduction class, Dabblers will learn how to safely use the five basic tools of woodworking and become more familiar with the shop environment. This includes understanding proper safety, technique and best uses for the table saw, router, planer, jointer and miter saw. You will also learn how to square lumber - the first and best lesson in woodworking.

Students will be able to try their hand at using each of the machines. This class is best suited for the true beginner in woodworking or someone who wants a refresher in tool safety.

I really enjoyed this class and we learned a lot about how to use tools safely. I feel much more comfortable using tools for everyday home repair projects!

In this class, you'll learn the five tools that are needed to square a board--the most fundamental and essential step in woodworking. Tracy is a great teacher and explains everything really well. This class is very basic but great for making me feel like I have the confidence to take the next step. Presenting more would have been overwhelming for beginners. You don't make anything in this class (take her beginner class for that), but I liked that because that would have been too intimidating.
