Event Overview
You don't need to aim at a Pulitzer or MacArthur Genius Award to enjoy writing. Playing with words can make you happy, especially if the words are your own. Maybe what you need to get started as a writer is permission and confidence. Come fly with me and act like a writer for a couple of hours. See how it feels.
We will consider the physicality of writing, test drive some invention techniques and plan to move that secret, very smart book, essay, poem--whatever--out of your head and into the reader's hands. No one will badger you about comma splices or split infinitives, split ends or split personalities. You'll leave with pages of your own writing, new write-minded friends, and a new determination to do what you've always wanted to do, claim your rights as a creative person.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST
Karen has published many poems, a memoir, four books of poetry, several short stories and a book of short fiction. She also taught writing at Georgia Southern College (University) and at LSU-Shreveport. Karen has an MA in English Lit and MFA in Creative Writing. You can see her weekly blog about writing and full publications list at www.kvdbooks.com. But, guess what, she wrote for years late at night or whenever the family was otherwise occupied. It took a long time for her to claim the title WRITER. Don't wait; life's too short to put off what you really love.

The session was fantastic. Karen is very well suited to teach this workshop in both personality and experience. I would highly recommend this class to anyone interested in opening him or herself up to writing. I
