Event Overview
In this hand-painting yarn dyeing class, students will be using Cushing dyes and learn how to mix the dyes for different color hues. Color chart and wheels will be available to aid in determining color schemes.
The dye kit contains 1 skein of sports weight 100% alpaca yarn, 2 Cushing dye packets and handouts. Mason jars to mix the colors and plastic gloves will also be provided to students.
In this dying class we will exlolore the creative possibilities of dying different colors and different hues of the same color dye. You will come out of the class with a usable product, a 200 yard skein of colored alpaca yarn that you can knit or crochet into another creative product. Plus we plan to have fun during the process.
Please wear comfortable clothes that can get messy (dyes may expand to clothing).

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST
Cheryl has been raising alpacas since the year 2000. She finds the animals very healing and calming to those who are receptive to that kind of energy. Cheryl really enjoys being a naturalist, and up till now has been true to nature colored yarn. She is slow to move into coloring alpaca fiber and yarn. She now becomes passionate in trying new colors and finds the whole process invigorating.

It was a positive experience. I was able to paint a skein of alpaca fleece in my personal colors and take it home with me at the end of the class. It was a small group of people and went well.
