Join 18 Reasons for a class in the basics of using your chef's knife at home. We will discuss the ins and outs of knife use, care and safety. You will walk away knowing how to maintain a sharp edge and the best way to cut vegetables and herbs. This is a great class for beginners. You will practice many different cuts, and share a simple dish made with well-chopped veggies at the end of the class.
Please bring an apron, knife, and peeler with you to this class. If you do not yet own a knife, you can contact us at info@18reasons.org, and we will find one for you.

18 Reasons is a nonprofit community cooking school that empowers our community to choose good food every day. Beyond our classroom walls we offer programming that reaches into the heart of the Bay Area's most vulnerable communities. Every day, our staff and crew of dedicated volunteers help low-income families learn to eat healthy, delicious food on a limited budget. The funds we raise through events like this go directly towards purchasing groceries for families in need. Thank you so much for your support!
It was great to get the basis of various vegetable cuts and techniques as well as the order of cooking tasks and basic knife and cutting board care.

Hands on class, chopped a variety of vegetables, discussed technique and tips. Very relaxed and friendly informative instructor. Enjoyed the fruits of our labor at the end class - yummy salad with a glass of wine. Great way to gain confidence using your chef knife.
