Anthony Whitaker
Anthony Whitaker, originally from South Carolina, has lived in Chicago for over 20 years working as a professional actor, playwrite, musician, director and teacher. Anthony attended the Conservatory Program at Chicago's Second City, where he studied with Stephen Colbert, Jim Sherman, Don Depollo and many others. He has taught Improv and Acting for the past 15 years for Moraine Valley Community College, Chicago Park District, Chicago Public Schools, the Rumble Arts Center and a whole slew of other places.
In 2011, he co-founded the New American Folk Theatre and wrote and directed a successful six-week run of "Two from the trailer Court" and will be following that up with "The Marvelous Land of Oz" in the Spring of 2013.

That was the overall message from each of my fellow students. The class size was just big enough to allow us to learn from and play off of each other. The concepts taught are transferable skills that can be utilized in presentations, meeting facilitation, or even just interactions in everyday life. Anthony is not only a talented performer, he has a gift for teaching."So much fun!"

Dane C.Reviewed on 03/04/13A great experience for improv rookies. The small group and the beer made it easy to try (and fail) without an audience. And although I may never master improv, the rules of improv we learned can be taken and molded to be a better conversationalist, brainstormer, daydreamer, and parent (just to name a few).

I'm an introvert by nature and it was fun to step outside of my comfort zone and be creative, learn how to think on my feet a little better and have fun in front of complete strangers! The fact that it was a small class made it much more comfortable and the instructor was so encouraging and helping me bring out my inner improv!

Megan Z.Reviewed on 02/15/13It was a great enviornment- very laid back, but also very encouraging. The mix of socializing/beer tasting allowed everyone to feel very at ease. I also suspect it had something to do with me volunteering first for a lot of exercises- I was plesantly surprised with myself!

It was really fun.I will be at the next one hopefully not as nervous.
I think i may try something else in improv at second city.Loved the theater we were at too
