I'm a complete beginner to using a sewing machine, and I was looking for a class that would jump start my learning. This class was exactly that. Bijal was an extremely patient teacher and broke everything down into basic steps. About half of the class was spent learning about sewing machines, what the different parts and functions were, and what to look for in purchasing my own machine. The second half of the class was spent putting that knowledge to use and actually setting up the machine and then sewing with it. At the end of the class, I had a finished headband and a lot of tips and tricks for future projects. Bijal was a great teacher who tailored the class to my level. She has a lot of knowledge as well as the ability to explain things step-by-step so that a complete beginner could understand. I enjoyed this class and am looking forward to more sewing classes in the future!

Great intro class. I had no knowledge of machine sewing at all so I did not want to take a class that put me on a machine right away. In this class you learn the terms and all about the tools you will need to get you started. Now I feel like I would be comfortable enough to try the next step and maybe take a class that I could practice on a machine. The teacher is awesome. She has a great personality and genuinely wants you to learn and enjoy. She has other classes that I intend to try. Bonus points for being right off of public transportation. Clark bus, Halsted bus, red line... very close!

Bijal, the instructor, was experienced and an expert in her field. She systematically reviewed components of the sewing machine, how to troubleshoot your sewing machine, explained types of fabric, how to choose fabric, and at the end we sewed a headband. I am a novice and by the end of the class I felt comfortable to tackle small projects. Bijal even allowed me to bring my own machine. She was patient, professional, & personable. She took the intimidation out of sewing and I will be back if she offers an alterations class.

This class was very informative and Bijal took great care to explain things step by step. You will leave class knowing what kind of fabric a beginner should use, what tools you'll need and how to choose a sewing machine. And you will get hands on experience using a machine to make a headband. I highly recommend this class!

The class was very fun and informative. Bijal was extremely friendly and helpful: she made sure we understood everything carefully before moving on. She explained very clearly, breaking complex topics into manageable steps. Had it not been for the class, I would have been too overwhelmed with all the info out there to even start sewing. Bijal watched us as we made our headbands and have many useful tips that I would not have been able to find in books. I highly recommend it!

This was a really great class. It made using a sewing machine really accessible. She answered all of my questions and I got to make a super cool headband. I really like how she started with fabric choice and thread choice. It serves as a good foundation for when I decide to do my own projects. I had no experience with using at sewing machine at all, but now I feel like I could make simple things like pillow sleeves, circle scarves, head bands, etc. with the techniques I learned from the class.

I loved this class! I knew basically nothing about sewing and I just thought it would be something fun for my mom and I to do together on a Sunday morning. Bijal is a great teacher with a lot of knowledge and patience! She made it easy to learn and made me feel confident that I could do it! I was so excited about sewing that after the class my mom and I went to look at sewing machines and fabric. :)

I had an absolutely wonderful experience. Bijal was extremely knowledgable and helpful. I will definitely be coming back for future classes!

This sewing class was just right! Bijal was a fantastic instructor, with lots of experience. I had the opportunity to work with her, one on one, and she was able to cater to my experience (limited but more than basic) and give me tips on the sewing projects that I have done (what I should have done differently). It was an EXTREMELY enjoyable class and Bijal was both knowledgeable and talkative, allowing you to learn by doing but also ask questions along the way. The makeup pouch we made was also fantastic! Just awesome, all around. I can't wait until she offers more classes, as I will definitely be taking them. Thanks Bijal for bringing back my love for sewing!

This was the best Dabble class I have taken yet! I was so lucky to have Bijal one on one and she is a very thorough instructor. There were a lot of things I knew about sewing - but a bunch of really basic things that I didn't! Bijal went over it all - and now I truly feel like I can make whatever I want! Great class!
