I'm a Social Studies High School teacher and English as a Second Language teacher. I'm bilingual in Spanish and English. I've spent a lot of time teaching youth about the outdoors through gardening and volunteering in the local Forest Preserves. I'm an avid outdoors' person, enjoying hiking, biking, kayaking and camping whenever I can. I also LOVE to learn new forms of arts and crafts from baking cakes, to paper mache, to jewelry making, to up-cycling used clothes to making home made books. This is why terrariums are a PERFECT hobby for me. They combine my love of nature with my need to create something beautiful.

Victoria S.Reviewed on 06/02/14This was such a fun, interactive class! Erika did a great job at explaining how a terrarium works and giving tips for how to make sure our creations survived, as well as how to create more terrariums on our own. It was a great way to spend a Saturday morning!

Erika is an amazing teacher and did a wonderful job teaching us how to make a terrarium! She had awesome supplies (jars were beautiful) and plants which made the experience very seamless and relaxing. Super fun and worth it!

This was a really fun class! There was a neat variety of plants and containers to choose from and I love my new terrarium. Even my boyfriend admitted the finished product was cool.

Erika provided a wonderful workshop! She was well prepared by having handouts with visuals and had all materials easily accessible. The environment was warm and questions were well received and answered. everyone left for home with their own terrarium and I know I love mine!

I've been wanting to learn to do this for quite a while. The class was fun and informative and I left with a solid understanding of the basics. Erika also provided great ideas for future projects as well as all the supplies needed to take home a beautiful project. I can't wait to make some more! Everyone is getting terrariums from me from now on!
