I came into the class with pretty solid basic knowledge of sewing and patterns. Marie was a wonderful instructor - the project she chose and the feedback she gave really increased my confidence and knowledge. This is a mutli week class so it is a commitment - but I was so excited to go each week and now have a lovely dress that I made myself! I can't recommend Marie and her classes enough!

This class was fantastic! Angela is a wonderful guide. I love how she structured the class. At the beginning, she helped us all figure out what we might want to create. We each took on an individualized project. Then as she helped each of us execute our designs she explained the various skills. All of us came in with zero experience and my sense was, that we all left with enough confidence to do a project on our own. I highly recommend this instructor!

Angela was a great teacher. She demonstrated multiple useful techniques and provided guidance for each student. In our group, we each had our own different ideas and she was able to support each of us in developing our product. We did only have three students show up, so didn't have to divide her attention too much. Then you get to go home with an amazing finished product! I got more than my money's worth!

Nancy was so nice and informative. She has so much experience. I liked that the class wasn't super structured. There was a general outline of topics to cover but if anyone had a question, she would take time to answer it. It was fun to make the pillow in the end. We started with 7 people but a lot of people were sick over the course of 4 weeks and only 2 ended up finishing all of the classes. So, we had a lot of valuable one-on-one time. If you miss one of the 4 classes, they let you make it up during a different session, which is cool. I recommend this class to anyone who wants to know the basics of how to use a sewing machine and get started on some simple projects!

FYI I had a substitute teacher, because the regular teacher was sick, so my review is on that.

Apparently they have up to 6 people in these classes. It was just me and one other girl when I went. It took the full 3 hours to learn all six stitches with the teacher just focused on the two of us, so I don't know how this would work with more, unless they plan teaching assistants based on sign-ups.However, I'm an absolute beginner with terrible coordination. The other girl got it more quickly. Your class make-up may vary.

They provided an instructional booklet, crochet hook, and basic starter yarn. It says you can bring your own, but if you're really a beginner you probably don't want to bring anything nice since you'll be taking it apart a couple times. Or a lot of times.

This is a great class. Prior to taking this class, I had never used a sewing machine, and my sewing experience was limited to reattaching a button or two. With Michelle's guidance, I was able to design and sew an attractive, simple messenger bag that I'm very proud to know I created. Although the class did not go into detail about the mechanics of sewing, I think I would be able to create a simple messenger bag on my own with the knowledge I've gained. I also really enjoyed the look and feel of the Urban Threads Studio space and the Bridgeport Arts Center in general. I had never been to the arts center before, and I thought it was a really nice creative space.

The Project Sewing: Messenger Bag class is the most positive Dabble experience I've had so far. I walked away from the class feeling a sense of accomplishment because I had a finished, professional-looking bag that I had created, and the seeds of desire had been planted to possibly dabble a little further into the craft of sewing. With this class, I think I've experienced what Dabble is all about. Brava Michelle!

I appreciated that it was a fun group that had some good conversation while we were wrapping, because although it seems like you'd be speedy at it, you're not! :) I'd definitely take another class at the Urban Threads space. (Apparently they also have multi-day classes, but can only offer 1-day classes thru Dabble, so inquire with UT if you're interested!)

I would take another class from her.

Loved the class and the location. The class was really good. There were only four of us, with varying levels of knitting experience, which gave the instructor time to have one on one time with each participant. Loved the instructor. She was very knowledgeable. I would take another class from her.

Thanks to the small class size and my patient, knowledgeable teacher, I learned a lot about machine sewing in just a few short hours. Plus, I got to take home an adorable apron!

The class was small and very intimate. I really enjoyed that. The instructor was very knowledgeable and very friendly. She had placed an outline for the class next to each sewing machine, which was really cool. I would take any other class offered by the dame Studio and instructor. I really loved the space!!

I took this workshop based on the content description and spent precious time and money to learn how to convert my images to fabric. Wifi was not available making access to downloading photoshop impossible. There was no opportunity to work with one's personal images and in short it was a total waste. I am going to pursue getting a refund based on the fact that what was advertised was not what was delivered.

    From Teacher:

Dear Mary - we are truly sorry that you were unable to benefit from the class. Unfortunately this class had several prerequisites without which you were able to complete your design. We are more than happy to offer you a refund, make-up of the tessellations class, or any of our other classes. Let us make it right!
