Kit was a great instructor. We were able to design our bowls, watch her make a bowl, and then make our own bowls. You are really nervous at first working with the hot glass, but Kit makes you feel at ease and it eventually becomes almost meditative. I use our bowls all the time (my husband and I both made one)--I keep them on our kitchen island for fresh fruit.

Great class, the glass flower is beautiful. This class isn't as hands on as the beginning class, but I still enjoyed it. Once again, Kit is a great teacher!

This was a great beginning glass class. As other reviews have said, Kit is very patient and she's also very thorough. The "gazing ball" we made is very cool. I can't wait to take more of her classes.

The class was a lot of fun and the bowl turned out beautifully! Not as "hands on" as I was hoping, but I understand that's hard to do in a one-time class - especially in this medium. It definitely made me want to learn more!

We had a great time with Kit at the glass blowing class! I think she found a great balance between allowing us--the completely inexperienced students--to interact with the hot glass but not shoulder all of the intricacies of the craft. It was a wonderful chance to see the process of glass blowing and has certainly inspired me to want to learn more!

Great class. I went with my wife and two friends, and we all came away thrilled for the opportunity for some hands-on experience with hot glass. There's too much to glass blowing to expect to learn it in one class, but Kit does a good job of holding your hand along the way, and taking care of the most challenging bits. She's an accomplished glassblower and a good teacher, and I really enjoyed learning from her. Note: Kit did the part where you actually blow into the metal rod to get a bubble to form in the fluid glass at the other end. But there's plenty more to do yourself, and if you discover you want to go further, she offers private instruction.

I really enjoyed Kit's Glass Pumpkin Sculpture class! Kit did a great job of explaining how the process works and what to expect, but also provides great one on one support so you end up with something that looks great - I was a little anxious that my pumpkin would turn out wonky since I haven't tried anything like this before but I was extremely happy with my results! I'd definitely sign up for another class.

I have been looking for a glass working glass for a long time. I am so glad I started with this one. It was an awesome intro and so much fun. Kit was an awesome teacher and I will definitely be taking another glass with her in the future. The class was a great intro.

This was a fun experience. I was a little confused because the class was described as glass blowing, but it was not. Other than that I enjoyed the experience and the hands on work we did. I wish we could of done more than one pumpkin, but that's neither here nor there. Kit was friendly and she was well informed. She provided time for questions and allowed for self expression with the work and was complimentary of all our pumpkins.

Kit is an amazing teacher. I had absolutely no experience with hot glass going into the class. I am even slightly afraid of fire. But Kit was kind, patient and extremely attentive. She was also great at accommodating everyone's creative ideas and helping to make them a reality. I can't wait for my finished glass Easter egg to be delivered! Definitely interested in learning more about hot glass. Highly recommend this class.

Beginning Glassblowing was a great class and Kit is an excellent teacher. My boyfriend and I were both a little shy of the furnaces and hot glass, but Kit is very relaxed, knowledgeable, and patient, and that really helped us to have fun and learn some skills. Recommended!

This is a relaxing fun experience ideal for a newbie who wants to get a feel for glass blowing. Its definitely a topic of conversation with friends, and I got an ornament out of it too. Kit was more disappointed in my ornament than I am. Actually I like my effort its more of a black anti-holiday ornament, just shows that you should carefully consider the colors and design, and stick with it. Some times less is more.

We had such a great time with Kit and were very lucky to be the only ones to show up for class. It was bitter cold outside and being Hot Glass Chicago studio space was the perfect way to heat things up. Being the only two it felt like we had a private Dabble session which was a rare treat. Kit was patient and she really sets it up so you cannot fail and even if you did it would still turn out uniquely yours. It was really interesting to see the inner workings of a glass studio and I have so much more appreciation for the work that goes into the art.

This class was awesome! Molten glass is really beautiful. After seeing the demonstration, I thought I'd mess up for sure, but Kit is such a great teacher that actually no one messed up. Instead we got to make super cool orbs of colored glass. Yep, highly recommend.

A fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

I had a great time working with glass! Kit is a great teacher, she explained the basics of how the studio works, gave us a rundown of the safety practices, and then we got right into it! She did the parts that require experice and practice, like gathering the glass from the furnace, and the actual blowing part, but everything else is done by the students. Kit is a very encouraging teacher, it's hard to mess up with molten glass, and if you make a mistake, she's right there to help you fix it.

So much fun! Can't wait to take another class

Kit was a wonderful instructor! She began the class by modeling the process we would follow in making our own ornament. She then guided each of us individually through this process. I'm not gonna lie, I was a little apprehensive about creating my own ornament, but Kit was by my side the entire time. I really enjoyed making my own ornament and getting to know the other "students". I would definitely recommend this class to anyone. If I ever need a party idea, I will consider taking another class at Hot Glass.

I greatly appreciated the fact that the teacher allowed for plenty of one on one time with the students. It enhanced the learning experience.

This was a great introductory class. The pumpkin is a non-trivial piece that allowed us to walk through some of the major parts of the glassblowing process. Kit (the instructor) was very knowledgeable and there was a good balance between giving us some hands on experience and taking the reins for the more advanced steps.

As an added benefit, there were several other glassblowers of various experience levels in the workshop, so we got to see some other pieces in progress as well.

A very interesting and unique experience! I took this class since I had an upcoming wedding and thought the pumpkin would make a nice wedding gift, especially if it's hand made by me! We got to choose the colors we wanted, were given a tour of the studio and an explanation of safety protocol. Our instructor explained the process for our immediate project and answered any questions we had about other general glass blowing topics. Some other people were using the studio and she explained some of what they were doing, as well. Since, as it was explained to us, it takes years of experience to work with glass to understand how to make something nice, there was a lot of hand holding through the process, but there was still enough you did on your own to make it "yours." I recommend bringing a friend since a volunteer is needed for part of the process, plus with all the fire and molten glass there were lots of nice photo opportunities! Other pieces of glasswork were on display, too, which were great to see.

My husband and I LOVED Kit Paulson's glassblowing class! There were 8 people in the class; we each made little glass pumpkins whose colors were of our choosing. She demonstrated what we were going to do, then provided just the right amount of help versus hands-on for a first time class. It was perfect, and we are thinking of returning for another lesson. I highly recommend Kit as a teacher. She is clear, easy to follow, and makes you feel quite capable.

I've always been interested in working with glass (I took a class in neon design 20 years ago) and this seemed like a great chance to see how other glass work is done. Kit's a fantastic teacher who makes your safety around 2000° molten glass very instinctive. She puts you into place, tells you what to expect, and sets you up to create your masterpiece. I made a couple of small mistakes and she was great at recovering my work and bringing my piece back to where it needed to be. And showing your glasswork to your friends gets you serious respect! Highly recommended.

Such a fun class!

Loved it! This class turns out to be great for couples so that you can take each others' pictures looking like a hardcore Glass Artiste! Kit is a great instructor and very patient. The eggs are a good project. I saw some of the hearts and they don't look as nice as the eggs.

This was my first Dabble class and I really enjoyed it. The teacher was very knowledgeable and helpful. The only thing that would have made it better is if I would have dressed a little warmer, it was really cold in the shop.

Kit makes you feel comfortable as she guides you through the process. She invests in you to make sure you have a great experience.

I can't wait until I can pick up my heart and see the actual final colors! This was a nice hands on beginners project. This class was a lot of fun - you get to work with the glass and design your own ornament. The instructor was fantastic - she answered everyone's questions and really made us feel welcome.

When I walked into the studio, I was a little scared. Kit, the instructor, first walked us through the overall process, and then guided us one by one as we each made our ornament. We were able to do a lot of the hands-on stuff, while she handled the more advanced stuff (the actual blowing). It was pretty awesome. I'm excited to see the finished product.

Glass blowing was Amazing! I know it's possible to create expectations that are too high, but this class lived up to all of mine. Our teacher explained everything clearly with a friendliness that made me much less nervous. She gave us several suggestions for possible designs and even explained how I might make my more adventurous design idea work. I left with a gorgeous new ornament, which I excitedly showed off to my family and friends. My fiance and I will definitely be trying glass blowing again.

Blown Glass Holiday Ornaments is a one-on-one guided hands-on experience. Each of the participants gets a turn to create their own ornament and then watch the remainder of classmates complete their own. Anyone that is interested in trying the art of glass blowing will enjoy this beginner class. Note: the instructor does all of the actual 'blowing', but there is plenty of other aspects of the art left for the class to complete. Just try it, it's fun!!

1.) Small class size. 2.) Allowed each individual to mold simple glass eggs themselves, while also 3) displaying an example of advanced glass blowing at the end by the instructor.
