Lauren Tackbary

Lauren lives in Grass Valley, CA and has hives on her homestead. She is active in sustainability practices and is an avid organic gardener. She has been beekeeping for 10 years, starting in Chicago and then moving her bees to California. She is passionate about helping other people learn how to keep bees.

Lauren is an absolutely superb teacher who combines contagious enthusiasm for beekeeping, with an ability to convey large amounts of information in an interesting and integrated manner. Her handouts are outstanding - clear ad very practical. She is generous with her time, answers all levels of questions with respect and clarity, and clearly enjoys interacting with people. The best beekeeping class we have ever attended. Don't miss it!

Enjoyed the class and Lauren's teaching style. Very personal and had plenty of time to provide a broad range of information and answer lots of questions. The group size was small so there was good interaction and trading of everyone's level of knowledge. The bees were active and despite the overcast day Lauren offered to invite us back to spend time to get more involved in viewing the hive. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to get involved in beekeeping.

OUTSTANDING !! Lauren is so informed and calm and is a great teacher. The class was as hands on as each person wanted. We got to do all aspects of hive tending and inspection and learned tons of info about bees in general! I can't stop saying propolis....a very cool bee term!

I loved this class. In fact, I dreamed about bees last night (in a good way!). There is SO much to cover in the class time span that I'd love a more intensive class for anyone still thinking about getting a hive (ME!) after this intro class. I learned a lot, but it's clear I'm going to need to know a lot more. The honey was fabulous too.

The class was great! Lauren is very knowledgable and passionate about her bees. Plus, inspecting the hives was uber interesting. I highly recommend it.

Drove to Chicago to learn more about beekeeping. Class was very informative and I learned a lot. Hopefully I will have my beekeeping operation up and running this spring/summer time frame. Thanks Lauren

This was an amazing class, I had no knowledge of beekeeping and left feeling like this is something I could really get into. Lauren covered the basics but also gave personal insight into the bees complex life.
