Having started with a modest film SLR more than a decade ago, my passion for photography has lead me down many roads - including jobs as an event photographer for international organizations and model photographer for specialty fashion blogs. In addition, world travel has exposed me to all sorts of environments and unique opportunities, further improving my photographic technique and feeding my creativity.

Having developed a strong handle on the technical side of photography, and after seeing many DSLR owners struggle to make the best of the photographic opportunities they come across, I decided to help others fully embrace the art of photography.

Fun, short class to take with great teacher. Photographing Chicago was the best part.

Despite the terrible weather, the course was very worthwhile. I def learned to use a few more features on my DSLR and was happy to have taken the class.

I loved Ovi's class, he's a great teacher. He explains things very well and customizes his class to the people in it, so it doesn't matter how much/little you know when you show up, you'll learn feeling more confident and informed. He offers a great mix of lecture and hands-on work, and is a super smart and charming guy. I'll definitely be back!

Despite the bad weather, our intimate group managed to get quite a bit of information from our teacher. I think he did an amazing job of meeting the needs of every student in the class. I'd definitely recomend this class, and will likely be back for me of his classes.

ovi was an exceptionally knowledgeable teacher and taught the class at an easily understandable pace. the smaller size of the group also allowed for all involved to receive personalized instruction, even as we all arrived with different brands and models of camera.

The class was great. Flexible based on all of the students' skill levels. Instructor was always willing to answer questions and was knowledgable about many aspects of photography.

This was the best 1-day class I've taken on digital photography and the most I've learned from a dabble class yet. The instructor was very patient and effective in helping us learn the fundamentals. We also walked around the downtown area photographing different scenes, so there was a lot of good practice.

I had emailed the teacher ahead of time to ask a few questions regarding camera equipment, and he promptly responded and went above and beyond in helping me decide what to buy. Was super excited for the class. Showed up maybe 5 minutes late (bus traffic) and walked to the very vague meeting spot. I had emailed him to say I was stuck in traffic but no response. Emailed again to ask where exactly we were meeting after wandering around for a while but still no response. Waited around for an hour, just in case he decided to check his emails, in hopes that I could maybe meet up with them somewhere because I had obviously missed them. Did not receive any contact until later the next morning, saying that they were all there 10 minutes early and waited 20 minutes (false, I was no more than 10 minutes late, I checked the timestamp).

I understand that I was late, however the class was only 4 people and he had known for a full week that I was signed up and coming because we had actually interacted via email. That is the only reason why I am really annoyed. Plus, I could have easily met up with the class if he had just read the email during a non-teaching moment. I don't think I'll have time to take the class again for a while, so there goes $40 down the drain.

    From Teacher:

Tori, I'm very to sorry you were unable to make the class! I hope the recommendation for tripods I provided you prior to the class came in useful.
The meeting location for this Dabble has always been 1601 N Clark St, and we've always waited at least 10 minutes for late arrivals (10 minutes early + 10 minutes waiting = 20 minutes waiting). I will make sure to notify you the next time I schedule a class, so that you may join us, for free. And you'll have my phone number this time.
    All the best,
    Ovi
