I started my career in the health field 10 years ago as a Speech-Language Pathologist. As a busy healthcare professional, I found it difficult to manage balance in my life- constantly stressed with work and always eating the (unhealthy) snacks in the break room- I did not understand why I could not control my habits. After work, I would rarely exercise because I did not have the energy after my 3pm donut crash. I felt like I was always helping others and not myself.
I have always been somewhat healthy but never really made it a priority. Over the years, I watched my weight creep up and it seemed like no matter what I did, I could not gain control over it. I exercised inconsistently and always thought of it as a chore.
Over time, I became more interested in how to balance eating well and exercising all while trying to work and experience life to the fullest. In early 2018, my friend and I signed up for the Chicago Triathlon, something WAY outside my comfort zone. I quickly started to adhere to a strict schedule of training and eating.
After the event, I quickly fell off track. Granted, I needed a break, but I had not developed the long-lasting habits needed to make my routines a part of a lifestyle. At this point, I decided that I wanted to learn more about the psychology of health our decisions, especially our relationship with food, movement and managing our energy, so I enrolled in school to become a Certified Health Coach. The most valuable thing I learned from my education was how to change our disordered relationship with food and exercise.
I began to shift my mindset to seeing food and movement as energy sources and I have not looked back since. I have gone through the 90-day Energy Transformation program and it has truly impacted my life. I can now clearly understand why I am drawn to the daily decisions I make and I have a clear vision for a healthy, sustainable, and balanced future. It is not about eating salads and doing yoga everyday- it is about conscious lifestyle choices that are in line with who you want to be. Believe me, there is still pizza and wine!
As a CHC, I am passionate about helping clients take an active role in their health and wellness journey. I found that my experience as a therapist has given me a solid foundation for coaching and understanding chronic health problems. Working collaboratively, we discover your underlying motivating factors for transformation and put a specific action plan into place to help you manage new habits and behaviors to make lasting changes and live a more balanced life.
I am committed to evidence-based research and ongoing continuing education to utilize the most current information to develop health plans and guide my clients to make impactful changes in the areas of increasing energy, weight loss, nutrition, physical movement and stress management.
