Vegan Challah with Eli from Challah for Hunger

Food & Drink
Vegan challah? It's true, and it's delicious, and we'll teach you to make it with 6 simple ingredients. Just in time for the holidays! Starting from scratch, we'll mix dough, add flavors and mix-ins in several ways with different effects, and then braid. You'll take your challah home to bake.
Eli co-founded the original chapter of Challah for Hunger (challah.org) while in college in California. The organization now has 80 chapters, mostly on campuses in the US, which bring together students to bake and sell challah. Each chapter donates half of its profits to CfH's national partner, Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger, and allocates the remaining half locally.
The profits from this workshop will go to support the work of Challah for Hunger in engaging students in community, advocacy, and philanthropy.
In this workshop, you will:
- make challah dough from scratch,
- choose your extra ingredients for flavor and variety,
- learn two challah braiding techniques with hands-on help,
- take home a recipe for simple vegan challah,
- learn about the background and tradition of challah,
- hear about Eli's tricks and tips for lazy baking, and eat some of Eli's challah, and take yours home to bake and enjoy!
Please bring your own baking tray. All other supplies will be provided.
Sorry, we can't do this gluten-free. :/
All ages welcome
