Event Overview
Ditch the setup. Forget about jumping through all the hoops to get started. You can begin programming immediately on any computer right now... and what you learn is totally relevant to the real world!
First, you'll get the basic concepts of programming and put together a few small programs. Then you'll explore the larger world of what's possible in programming. You'll leave with a no-fear understanding of writing computer software.
This class is different from your typical "Programming 101" classes because the challenging concepts are taught with fun hands-on exercises. It's like art class instead of math class. I hope this class will launch you into a love of programming from which you never recover!
Minimum age
All ages welcome
Prerequisites
You have to bring a working laptop. It has to have a Web browser on it. Chances are very good that yours will work nicely. About 99.99999% of laptops meet the criteria!
You need to be comfortable typing on your computer, and comfortable saving and opening files. You'll do just fine in the class as long as you are generally comfortable with computers.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST
Class will be taught by Kilton Hopkins, a veteran programmer who has helped many people learn how to code. Kilton started programming when he was 8 years old, and has written software in many different computer languages. He recently taught a class of absolute beginners how to build iPhone apps. Everybody had a good time.
