Event Overview
Do you have German heritage and have always wanted to get in touch with your roots? Are you planning a trip to a German-speaking country sometime in the future? Do you have a German loved one whom you want to understand better and communicate with better? Does your job have you traveling to Germany or require you to be in frequent contact with German-speaking people? Then this is the class for you!
This class is designed to give you an introduction to the German language and culture. In this class, you will learn the following: pronunciation and alphabet, greetings and partings, pleasantries, introductions, numbers, and time telling. You will develop a vocabulary and understanding of: shopping, giving and following directions, in the restaurant and in the hotel. You will also be given the necessary grammatical foundation to include: basic word order, nouns, pronouns, and genders, verb conjugation (endings), and articles. All materials will be provided.
By the end of this class, you will be able to: introduce yourself, ask for and follow basic directions, conduct yourself in a hotel or restaurant, and go shopping by yourself, all in German, and in the target language!

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST
Kristin is a professional teacher of German for 10+ years, and has taught at several universities, language schools, companies, and homes, to individuals, small and large groups. She was born and raised in Germany to American parents, and has lived half of her life in each country. Both bilingual and bicultural, she went on to study German / Germanic Studies on the Bachelor's level at Wheaton College and on the Master's level at the University of Ilinois at Chicago. One of her greatest passions in life is teaching, and she enjoys seeing each student progress in the language.
