Event Overview

Grant writing is a lot like dating. You need to determine the right fit, make a good first impression and handle many not-so fun rejections before you find a relationship (or grant) that's right for you.

In this class, Dabblers will learn the basics of grant writing for non-profit organizations. This workshop will cover:

- How to plan and manage the grant writing process
- The components of a good proposal
- How to manage your relationship with the foundation

We'll leave plenty of time for questions. Dabblers will walk away with the skills to attract & retain their "perfect match" in the grant world.

If you know nothing about grant writing, this is the starting point. The concepts are cleaver, ideas original and topics were to the point. I advise taking notes because everything is useful.

Bea was a wonderful teacher! She made the class very inclusive and made everyone feel comfortable. She had an easy-to-follow outline, explained things clearly, and left plenty of time for our questions. I would definitely take another class from Bea!

    From Teacher:

Thanks, Elli! I'm glad I was able to help. I'll keep you posted on future classes.

I wouldn't actually pick negative but neutral. If you have ANY experience grant writing at all - meaning if you just do a little research online for about an hour - you won't need to take this class. Bea was nice and clearly a professional, but I just don't think this information is that useful. Besides a few tips about her own process and sharing some websites with us to find grants to apply for - which were very helpful - everything else could be found online in free basic guides to grant writing. It's my fault for thinking I'd get more than I already know.

    From Teacher:

Thanks, Margaret. The class is really meant for beginners, and as you heard from the rest of the class, they did find the information useful. I am sorry that you did not find it useful. Because I am committed to helping more people and sharing what I know, please contact me and I'd be more than happy to address any questions you have. Also, your comment has prompted me to design Grant Writing 102, which focuses on formulating goals, outcome objectives, and evaluation methods. I plan to add more intermediate and advanced classes in the future.
