Event Overview

Ever wanted to paint a picture of Chicago?

We've all got a million cellphone snapshots of the city, but have ever just sat and looked out the window, then wished there had been some record of the time you spent and the thoughts you had? This is your chance.

We'll work on a Sumi ink painting directly from what we see out of the windows of a West Loop loft. The process of making brush strokes to correspond with what you're looking at with your own eyes can be a reward in itself but at the end of our three hours you'll also have a painting that you can share with others.

Minimum age

Prerequisites

Bring watercolor or other sturdy paper and a couple of watercolor or ink brushes. (These can be provided for an additional $10 fee, just let me know.)

This class was one of the best dabble classes I've taken. Dmitry was great! He gave us guidance but also gave us plenty of space to explore the medium on our own. Even though we were all working on our own piece he was able to create a sense of collegiality. I didn't think I was going to be able to sit still for 3 hours, but suddenly it was time to pack up. Thanks Dmitry!
