Screenwriting 101
5 Have Dabbled
Arts & DIY
Ever finished watching a movie and thought that you could come up with a better story? Or perhaps you saw a film that made you dream of just picking up and moving to Hollywood? We all have those moments of disappointment or wonder. For some of us, though, that fascination with the cinema never goes away.
In Screenwriting 101 Dabblers will explore the basics of screenwriting to help you get your story ideas out of your head and onto the page. It’s a perfect forum for beginners—or for people who need a refresher. We’ll explore the anatomy of a screenplay, and get tips for making the most of each part, including:
- Character formation
- Formatting & structuring your piece
- Theme & tone
- Handy software to aid the process and
- Self study methods for fleshing out your work.
We’ll also discuss exercises that will help you become a productive, daily writer—allowing you to take your ideas from infancy through the first draft and hopefully someday onto the silver screen! Watch out Spielberg, we're comin' for ya.
