Note: This is a multi-session event series. By purchasing the event package, you acknowledge that you can attend all event dates included below.By regarding a book work as an interactive sculptural object, instructor Alicia Bailey has developed various ways of adapting traditional bookbinding structures to create book works designed to hold dimensional objects. In this workshop, two books will be created. They will be built both from provided, pre-cut materials and personal images/artifacts students will be asked to bring to the workshop.
One of our books will have a thick front cover that will house a dimensional object and text block of pages designed to hold flat artifacts in window cut outs (potentially visible from both sides of the page). The second book will have a text block with at least one thick page designed to hold a dimensional object and thinner covers.
With great flexibility at the spine and sturdy, rigid pages, these books work well both when handled or displayed as a traditional book form or as a sculptural object.
This is a two-day workshop (Saturday and Sunday) from 10-5 each day with one hour for lunch
All ages welcome
Best for those with at least minimal experience in book or paper arts. Students must be at least 18 years of age.
ALL materials, many of them pre-cut, provided.

Had a great workshop this weekend. The material was well pace, and the learning environment pleasant, sunny, and welcoming. Alicia was great- walked everyone through all of the steps patiently and gave tips and suggestions that new and experienced students can learn from.
