Event Overview

Kombucha is an ancient beverage revered for its wondrous health benefits. A basic and simple process of fermentation, this class is designed to bring all the virtues of Kombucha into your life so you can enjoy this delicious, nourishing beverage at a fraction of the cost.

This class will immerse participants in all things Kombucha! Review the history of this time-honored tradition; explore the nutritional and medicinal benefits attributed to Kombucha; undertake in brewing Kombucha, start to finish. Each stage will be explained and demonstrated. Participants will taste the final product and have the opportunity to leave with their own scoby, or "Mother", and the other necessary components for home brewing ventures.

What to Bring

Pencil and Notepad, if you care to take notes; questions and anecdotes to share

What's Provided

Each participant will bring home a Kombucha kit containing: a jar with their very own SCOBY, "starter" Kombucha, and tea , as well as an instructional handout.

Molly Jo has been studying, practicing and teaching ecological design, herbalism, homesteading and sustainability since graduating from Hocking College in 2007 with a Natural Resources degree specializing in Environmental Education. Her thirst for knowledge and experience brought her from her home in the Appalachian Foothills through the eastern deciduous forests, to the arid deserts of the southwest, across the sea to the edge of Andros Islands' barrier reef, to the fertile soils of the pacific northwest, and to her current home in Colorado's magnificent Front Range. These lands and their people have shared a wealth of knowledge and continually inspire her to live more intentionally and happily upon the earth. Molly Jo takes great honor in enthusiastically offering what she has learned with her students and community.

    The class went by quickly! Jo gave everyone the background/history of Kombucha and then went into the brewery process. Everyone got to take home a little SCOBY with directions on how to get started! I am new to Kombucha and had many questions - she is very knowledgeable and kind.

    Very informative class that made home brewing kombucha so much more accessible and less intimidating. I have my first batch brewing now and cannot wait to try it! Definitely take this class if you have thought about making your own kombucha :)

    This class was wonderful! It was educational and really easy to follow the process of how to make your own Kombucha. Molly Jo was very welcoming and helpful during the class and open to any emails with questions after (for those of us with fermentation fears!).
