Event Overview

Motorcycles Are For Girls:  The first of six, entry level, hands-on topical classes. These are designed especially for women motorcyclists interested in learning the basic skills of motorcycle maintenance essentials.  Although this class is targeted at women riders in the title, all are welcome. No pre-requisites are required. This is a beginners class held at Moto Works Denver.

Class 1 - Oil and Filter change - Discussion & Hands On

• Checking oil with sight glass vs. dipstick (dirty/clean)

• Draining oil, filter removal and replacement

• Checking the drain plug

• Traditional  vs. synthetic oils, gear oil types and additives

• Replacing your air filter

• Other fluids to be checked and changed regularly depending on the motorcycle: Fork oil, antifreeze, shaft drive, transmission.

Every class will also cover basic tools required to do the job.

Notes: This is a simple class but one of the most common areas of maintenance performed, and worth doing yourself as it saves you both time and $40-45. The class itself will be hands-on to learn how to do your own oil change or watch/assist with someone else’s. If you bring your own bike with an oil filter and drain plug washer, we can supply 10/40 semi-synthetic oil at $29.95/gallon. We can dispose of oil at $1/quart.

We’ll have 3 lifts available and do oil changes on six bikes during the 2-hour class.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Ray Roske is a motorcycle lifestyle writer and an Industry Consultant for a Construction Management software company. Long before SaaS, the cloud, mobile apps and the deep and dark web, before the browser accessible internet, Ray began his technical journey sometime after charcoal and shovel in those halcyon graphite years, traveling swiftly through time powered by a red mechanical pencil. Exactly like the one that put a man in the moon.

Ray currently rides a sweet Ducati Multistrada but buys, fixes and flips vintage motorcycles in his spare time. But if you're in a tight spot, he can also recommend a good wine, juggle, lay tile, rebuild an engine, fly a small airplane, make a peanut butter sandwich while changing a diaper, grow a garden, raise a chicken, deliver a baby, make killer salsa and pierogi's, shift through the gears on a wheelie, drive a Peterbuilt, speak Pig Latin, remove a fishing fly from chin with needle nose pliars, sink the eight-ball on the break, identify a cancerous mole, use hand gestures when public speaking, weld with torch, stick or MIG, jump off a ladder with a running chainsaw, pick locks, hot wire a car, doodle, outrun a police officer, whistle three different ways, whittle, gut a deer, pull teeth (kids or pets), teach anyone to ride a bike. He is married with three children and living happily ever after here right here in our beautiful city - Denver, Colorado.
