Did you know that when you practice origami, you are activating your whole brain? It has long been known that origami has many educational and Physical and mental benefits like nervous system regulation, developing eye-hand coordination, sequencing skills, attention skills, patience, temporal-spatial skills, math reasoning, etc. but according to the latest research on the brain and the work of Doctor Katrin Shumakov and Yuri Shumakov, when both hands are engaged, impellent motor impulses activate the language portion of the brain.
With benefits for all ages join our newest workshop provider Dr. Origami Sonya Erikson for classes for Adults and Children. During this workshop, you will learn to Craft Origami Ornaments and boxes from upcycled and specialty paper, which could be gifts alone. You will start by making vellum templates you will take with you for future projects. The approximate box size it 3 x 3 inches - suitable for jewelry and other small gifts. Finish the box during the session or take it with you to complete at home! Additional pre-cut kits are available for purchase for $5 per each. Amy Leiter is a Denver-based, artist and art therapist and the Founder of Violet Hive Art Therapy and Healing. She creates multimedia pieces and paintings, exploring the emotional and mystical landscape using bright, rich colors and takes inspiration from the world around her. She received an MA inTranspersonal Counseling and Art Therapy from Naropa University, Boulder in addition to her BFA from Ohio University, Athens. She has taught adults and adolescents at Violet Hive Art Therapy and Art Garage. As a teacher, Amy believes that art and art therapy are for everyone no matter their artistic level. She believes that the creative process may encourage personal growth through accessing the self-conscious in a way that allows for healing and rediscovering the authentic self.
