Learn the basics of 3D modeling with the Rhino and Sculptris computer aided design (CAD) programs and our Makerbot 3D printers and 3D scanner. You will be able to model a single piece solid object and then create plastic prototype pieces with the Makerbot replicator. Painting and finishing techniques are also covered.
Experience with Photoshop or Illustrator is helpful.

Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design is a nonprofit organization that has focused on bringing the best of contemporary craft to the St. Louis community for 50 years. Craft Alliance employs talented working artists to teach classes across many artistic disciplines, including ceramics, metals, fiber, 2D arts, and more. The Grand Center Graphics Studio is a state of the art facility providing the community with access to new design technologies including MakerBot printers and 3D scanners.
Aaron Holderman has a BFA in Metalsmithing from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. He has been employed as a CAD artist and 3D printer operator around the St. Louis region. In addition to work as a designer, he also instructs courses in design and 3D printing. Exposure to students from a wide range of backgrounds has given him an adaptive and holistic approach to design. Years spent operating and researching different types of 3D printers has afforded him with useful insights into this growing field.
