This beginning wheel class will introduce participants to the basic techniques of throwing forms on the potter's wheel. Fundamental techniques of throwing cylinder forms and bowls will be demonstrated and taught, as well as an introduction to glazing. Get your hands dirty and have fun creating unique vessels you'll be able to talk home with you!
No prior experience with ceramics is required. Ages 12 and up are welcome to register.

Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design is a nonprofit organization that has focused on bringing the best of contemporary craft to the St. Louis community for 50 years. Craft Alliance employs talented working artists to teach classes across many artistic disciplines, including ceramics, metals, fiber, 2D arts, and more. The Delmar Loop Clay Studio provides an excellent facility to learn a variety of techniques in ceramic arts, including wheel throwing, hand building, and more.
Michele Katz-Reichlin has been a teaching artist since 1999. She obtained her Art K-12 certification from Webster University after having earned an MSW from Washington University. She has exhibited her found object and ceramic sculpture regionally since 1992.
