Simply put, everything is better with bacon. Bacon has all the best things going for it - quick cooking, great texture, smoky, salty and slightly sweet. If you’re a certified or self-proclaimed bacon-a-holic, this experience at Civil Life Brewing is for you. In this class, Chris "Mac" McKenzie of Mac's Local Buys will be teaching this very popular Bacon and Beer class and you will learn the differences between different types of bacon, the chef’s secret for bacon making, cooking and enjoy a bacon banquet and great local beer.

Mac's Local Buys will show you how to turn pork belly into the most delicious bacon you have ever tasted. Learn about the curing and smoking process, taste amazing samples, pick the brains of this local bacon lover and enjoy a night at Civil Life.

This class was super informative about making a conscious effort to eat food that is raised respectfully, especially proteins like pig and cow. The pork samples that were home-cured were absolutely delicious and our instructor was very knowledgeable and funny. I would highly recommend people take this that loves food and beer!

This was a fun way to spend a Monday night. There was much more bacon given out to sample that I anticipated based on other people's reviews. I was very full by the end and didn't need to eat dinner afterwards. I am not into bacon as much as most people are, but I still had a good time and enjoyed the samples. I would recommend this class.

Mac and Bob were awesome. Great energy! The bacon was fantastic! The crowd was just as fantastic as the bacon. I left the class with cheek aches from so much smiling and a few new friends. Good times!

The class was awesome. I am so excited to do several things I took away from this class-make my own bacon, get some great stuff from Macs and try out Byrd and Barrel when it opens!!!
