Note: This is a multi-session event series. By purchasing the event package, you acknowledge that you can attend all event dates included below.Thursdays, & Fridays 12-7pm & Saturdays 10-4pm. Beginners, intermediate and advanced adult students! There is an instructor TEACHING at Pottery Open Workshop all day giving demos, and step by step instruction. Your pass is a 5 hour pass that can be broken up into 5,4,3, or 2 sessions. SBAP is open 3 days a week for Pottery Open Workshop. You can use your FIVE Hour pass anytime we are open. You can drop-in for your studio time or make a reservation by calling ahead 314-773-3633.
New students, and beginners start with working on a project with guided instruction. We are always adding new projects but some examples of beginner projects include: Mugs, Tea Cups, Bowls, Lanterns, Small Sculpture and more! Students work on projects and skills involving mostly pinch, simple slab, and various surface applications. Beginner students will draw designs and get instruction when making and painting pottery. We have tons of project examples above for beginners to choose from and of course lots more ideas at the studio too! Beginner projects can be completed in 2-5 hours. Students seeking a "Wheel Throwing" focus will need 2-5+ hours of hand-building experience before progressing to the potters wheel. Students can start and use passes anytime during the year, and are valid for two years from date of purchase.

All classes are taught by Sarah Rye Bliss, Sarah Adzick, and Various Visiting Artists
Sarah Rye Bliss is the Executive and Artisitc Director of SBAP Pottery Studio. For the past 16 years Sarah has been designing patterns and motifs for Architectural Ceramics, Painted Spaces, and Textiles as well as teaching in traditional and non-traditional settings working with children and adults of all ages. If you are a student at SBAP you will see Sarah in the studio assisting with demos as well as doing her own work.
Sarah Adzick Sarah Adzick is a recent graduate of the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi with a BFA degree specializing in ceramics, graduating with Cum Laude
honors in May of 2016. She grew up in Kirkwood, Missouri where she resides today. She has a commanding knowledge of the ceramic wheel and hand building techniques as well as experience with various mediums of kiln firings. Her work has been exhibited at The Powerhouse Gallery as well as Gallery 130 in Oxford, Mississippi.
Various Visiting Artists - SBAP is committed to working with visiting artists locally and nationally. Check out our gallery and class schedule on the first Friday of each month as we feature a Visiting Artist at Clay Date Night. We also host a gallery reception before the class as a way for you to meet and interact with the artist.
