Event Overview

This entry-level class will provide a great foundation for students to explore their creative side utilizing paint and brushes as they learn to express their creative vision on canvas.

Explore color and form through the use of acrylic paint while you experiment with mixing colors and learning techniques with various brushes and pallet knife.

Students will work from a still life bowl of mixed fruit.

All skill levels are welcomed

FYI ~ The the studio is protected by Olivia, the "guard" cat..... more than likely she will be sleeping in the corner somewhere.

My friend and I took John-Michael's intro to painting class from Flying Dolphin Studio. He instantly made us feel comfortable and welcomed us into his studio with water and tea. After some introductions and conversation about our previous experience, he started giving us very helpful advice about where to start. As a beginner, this was extremely appreciated. With his advice, I am going to keep trying to paint and look into other classes he teaches. I would recommend this class and any class that John-Michael teaches!!!

Great class! The instructor creates a wonderfully cozy atmosphere, and guides you to create a piece that is all you and displays all your talents. Looking forward to taking more painting classes here, as well as trying out the Calligraphy class offered.

This was a great class! There were only two of us in the session, and John-Michael was patient and helpful with us both. I felt comfortable asking questions I may have otherwise felt silly asking, and I think that was due to his approachable teaching style. He did a nice job balancing instruction/feedback with giving us space to create our own unique paintings.

John-Michael Korpal is a great teacher. He gave us space and time to paint but also provided us tips and guidance when we seemed a little confused or stuck. He answered all of our questions. I had a wonderful time! And feel inspired to continue painting!

My sister and I had a wonderful time taking this class. We learned a lot about technique in a few hours and had a very good time with John Michael. He was very patient and helpful and a lot of fun. We appreciated the fact that he let us experiment and do our own thing, but he would give advice when asked. He seemed very knowledgable.

We had an amazing time. Great instruction, got right into painting, and learned as we painted (versus sitting through a lot of theory). We were very encouraged to walk our own paths and went home with our own paintings. Highly recommended!
