This independent painting class will help your child develop their own sense of artistic style. Each student selects their image or images to reference from our image library, books or the internet, then they choose the surface with which to create on.
Various sized canvases and watercolor papers are available for children who want to create a painting and a variety of drawing, charcoal or pastel papers are available for drawing artists. Our teachers will work with each student on their own personal painting and drawing goals by providing technical and conceptual advice to assist students in making informed choices. Children are able to work on each masterpiece over several classes and take all their art home at the end of their project.

*If someone misses a class as long as we are notified before the class starts they can attend a different class to make it up.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST
Nora Unicoi Stewart was born and raised in Chicago and graduated with a degree in Art Education from the University of Illinois, Chicago. Creativity has not been sparse in her immediate family of painters, metal smiths, photographers, and digital multimedia developers. At the age of 23, Nora founded Unicoi Art Studio. At that time she was also a kindergarden teaching assistant at Francis Parker School and taught special dance and art classes in Parkers after school program as well. In fact, her father, a metal sculptor, had welded the lettering for the front of the school years before she taught there. Since 1999, Nora has managed Unicoi and directed all the art classes, birthday parties and camps there. She hopes to continue to add to Unicoi’s award winning success by developing new and unique lesson plans which inspire children to learn art.
