Event Overview

Join Certified Cicerone and beer judge Jeff Whelpley as he teaches the basics of food and beer pairing. The event will be held at Horse Thief Hollow Brewing Company, where the class will sample beer and food from the menu.

Participants will learn how to use food and beer pairings to add extra dimensions to their meals. Jeff will also talk about beer history and share trivia for each beer style covered in the session.

We have some great pairings planned for the workshop:

- Arugula Salad/Hefewestern Weissbier

- Spent Grain Pretzels/CHAOS is a Ladder White IPA

- Crab Cakes/18th Rebellion Kolsch

- Lowcountry Wrap/Biere de Voleurs French Farmhouse Ale

- Pastrami Melt/Prunkle's Dunkel Munich Dunkel (Bronze medal winner at the 2016 Great American Beer Festival!)

- Butterscotch Pot de Creme/Kitchen Sink American Pale Ale

To get the most out of this class:

-Try not to smoke a few hours before the class starts. Actually, please quit smoking. It's bad for you.
- Refrain from eating spicy foods the day of the class.
- Do not use scented soap or hand-sanitizer prior to the class.
- While most of these beers aren't necessarily high in alcohol, please arrange for transportation. Don't drink and drive, that's bad for you, too.
