Beer and Candy Pairing
24 Have Dabbled
Food & Drink
Join Certified Cicerone and beer judge Jeff Whelpley as he transforms eating candy and drinking beer into learning the basics of food and beer pairing. We'll pair four different Halloween candy classics with four different beers. (Not candy corn. Don't even mention candy corn.)
Participants will learn how to use food and beer pairings to add extra dimensions to their drinking experiences. Jeff will also talk about beer history and share trivia for each beer style covered in the session.
The following pairings will be featured:
- Weissbier/Twix
- Schwarzbier/Milky Way
- English Porter/Three Musketeers
- Belgian Dubbel/Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
All ages welcome
To get the most out of the pairing session, you'll need a relatively clean palate. Please:
- Try not to smoke a few hours before the class starts. Actually, please quit smoking. It's bad for you.
- Refrain from eating spicy foods the day of the class.
- Do not use scented soap or scented hand-sanitizer prior to the class.
And, because we want repeat customers:
- While most of these beers aren't necessarily high in alcohol, please arrange for transportation. It may be Halloween time, but please don't turn yourself or others into a ghost by drinking and driving!
Beer and candy will be provided!

Jeff was smart and engaging, the beer was tasty, and there was a huge amount of candy. I liked his directed, focused nature about what to look for in the tastings and pairings, he pointed out nuances I wouldn't have picked up on without him.
