Meet Your Meat: Local, 100% Grass-Fed Steaks

Are you confused by the world of beef steaks? Is that Mariano's "filet" letting you down? Maybe it's the cut of meat you're cooking, or maybe it's the way you're cooking it, because each steak has a unique way of being prepared and cooked.
In this class we will take a look at three different cuts of locally grown, 100% grass-fed beef steaks from Meadow Haven Farm, a certified organic farm that cares about sustainability, animal welfare, and organic practises, and explore their origin and how they should be prepared and cooked. The T-Bone, skirt steak, and sirloin steak will be cooked to perfection before your eyes and you will get to marinate, cut, cook, and taste all three. This class will be small in size since I want everyone to be able to really Meet Your Meat.
Come learn about local meat that is more flavourful and healthier, and learn to make a steak that makes your sig-o drool with delight.
PLEASE BRING YOUR APPETITE! This steak class is more like a steak dinner, and will have a lot of meat involved! You will be full by the end! :o)
Frozen steaks from Meadow Haven along with recipe cards will be available for those who'd like to buy and take home!
If you have a sharp knife you love, feel free to bring it along! Please also bring a jacket, because we might be outside for a portion of the class!

Steaks for preparing/cooking will be provided, along with aprons to protect your clothes.

You want confidence in someone teaching you the art of "steaking," Devin is your gal. She has helped to butcher animals with Chicago chefs, stages at several high-profile Chicago restaurants, volunteers her time at local farmers markets selling meat, spends time at local farms learning about how animals are raised and processed, and has cooked many, many steaks.
Devin recently rolled out a Meet Your Meat marketing campaign with Meadow Haven Farms, educating people on where their cuts of meat come from and how best to cook the different cuts. If you want someone who has not only cooked your steak, but met the animal it came from, you've found the right person.
We took this class on Saturday and had a great time creating delicious steaks with Devin. We learned a ton about local farmers markets, local grass-fed meats and the best ways to prepare, cook and serve them (and of course we got to eat them when we were done).
The dishes Devin had planned for us were awesome, and we were able to take all of that knowledge home. Two days after the class, we've already prepared a great meal based on what we learned.
Devin was fun and created a friendly, entertaining atmosphere. Not only would we recommend Devin's classes to others, but we'll be sure to be back ourselves.
