Event Overview
Ever wonder how cloth is made? Come see how local resources are being used to create functional and creative cloth right here in Illinois. Try your hand at spinning your own yarn, weaving on a loom, needle felting, and dyeing fabric from plants around town.
This free 1 day symposium brings together Pamela Feldman, a master dyer specializing in plants, the owners of the Illinois Fiber Mill who raise their own sheep and process their wool, and Urban Threads Design Studio who teaches many of these demonstrated skills to encourage everyone to try their hand at making their own personalized textile creation. The symposium will also highlight the many resources out there that promote local and sustainable fiber production, skill sharing resources, and ways to think about our contemporary cloth culture.
