Event Overview
This class provides an introduction to screenwriting. It explains what a story is and goes into detail on screenplay formats. The stages of screenwriting are discussed - Loglines, synopses, treatment and the final script.
Genre, plot types and ideas are expressed in great depth. Focus is spent on building your own narrative (conflict, sequences, scenes, shots and the theme).
Time is spent on characterization as well (development, function, and the use of characters through action and dialogue).
Pacing and dialogue are discussed and how these play a role in character development.
Additional information is provided on pitching ideas, the marketplace, and contracts.
This class should provide you with everything you need to know to develop and write a worthy script.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST
Marie studied moving image arts at the University of Chicago at Illinois where she minored in film. She has worked with Final Cut Pro for years and taught a few classes on the mechanics, in addition to writing her own screenplay. Her favorite screen play is "Almost Famous".
