Education
Planning a trip? Brushing up on the old vocabulary? Or just in it to impress your friends with new intellectual prowess? No-problem-o!*
Join me for a 2 hour introductory Spanish lesson designed to assist you with your travels. It's time to put down those travel books and linguistics guides and consider real life experience and necessities. While this lecture will focus on syntax and vocabulary, the most important part of this class will come in the form of 'cultural awareness', so that you are in the know during your trip/study abroad/new life.
I'll be frank, learning a language takes years, sometimes a lifetime. Expecting to be fluent from a class is unrealistic. From my personal experience living overseas, I've deduced that what I was most unprepared for wasn't the language - while yes, I did struggle - but my preexisting actions and habits. Instead I should have become more quickly accustomed to the foreign environment's timetables, interactions, and cultural acumen. Now you've got the cheat sheet!
Topics to be discussed/considered:
Transportation
Greetings and Goodbyes
Hotel/Homestays/Lodging
Eating & Restaurants
Emergency/Police/Doctors
Expectations
?s open to the class
*It should be noted that this North American expression is actually incorrect and has led us to terrible tongue-ties and awkwardness abroad. problema = problem
All ages welcome
