Event Overview

If you're looking for a way to grow organically and never buy a commercial fertilizer again for your gardens, this is the class for you. This one hour class will provide you with the know-how to do just that. Learn the simple, straight forward process of making compost in your backyard that will be superior to anything you can buy. Though it may seem early, this is the time to begin gathering material for a compost pile and also to locate a compost container. Learn why a compost pile shouldn't smell, the mystery of ratios, and how to make finished compost in as little as 6 weeks. It's hard to believe there's not one tablespoon of dirt in that finished compost, isn't it? Come on out and learn how to do it.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Jim has conducted composting workshops throughout the state of Utah. He originally learned the method from the inventor of the square foot garden over 15 years ago when the term "sustainability" and "organic" we're just being used. The techniques work with any gardening system you might be using but are particularly well adapted to the square foot garden. Jim will show you how easy it is to produce a compost far superior to anything you can buy commercially. He's been doing it successfully for 15 years and his results speak for themself.

So great information shared in class, I appreciated the handouts that were given, and also being on-site to see what a well-running compost bin looks like. I feel like I’m setup for success after being this class.

Everything you need to get started. Teacher was well prepared with slides, handouts, and his personal experience composting. Would recommend this class to anyone starting out. He will steer you around mistakes and set you up with a system that works.
