South Broadway Art Project Clay Date Night is for wannabe potters, beginners, and the artistically inclined! There is an instructor working with students the whole time, and we accept new
students on a weekly basis. BYOB is Thursday & Friday nights 7:30-10 pm. "Bring your own drinks and snacks!" SBAP has plates, cups, silverware, wine openers etc.....
Our studio themes change weekly or monthly and demonstrations take place nightly at 8 pm.
Beginner students will follow guidance of the instructors monthly studio theme, while experienced students have the choice to work independently or in-line with the studio theme.
November theme is Scraffito and Relief Sculpture: Sgraffito (Italian: [zɡrafˈfiːto]; plural: sgraffiti; sometimes spelledscraffito) is a technique produced by applying layers of clay tinted in contrasting colours to a moistened surface, or by applying to an unfired ceramic body two successive layers of contrasting slip. We'll be making all kinds of interesting shapes and embellishing the surface with "Scraffito and Relief Sculpture"

Eyan Mullet has been working as an SBAP Resident Teaching Artist for three years.
Eyan produces functional and sculptural pottery and has an extensive background in Ceramics and Sculpture with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Sculpture from Southeast Missouri. Eyan has showed his work at many galleries throughout rural and urban Missouri. Eyan has worked for Southeast Missouri State University as a Sculpture Studio Teaching Assistant, and Gallery Assistant. Eyan began his life long artistic journey in childhood learing all about the art and craft of ceramics from his mother who is a Potter. Eyan believes working with students of all ages provides him with a great opportunity and responsibility to pass on the knowledge he acquired from teachers he truly admired.
Sarah Rye Bliss is the Executive and Artisitc Director of SBAP. For the past 15 years Sarah has been designing patterns for Architectural Ceramics, Painted Spaces, and Textiles as well as teaching in traditional and non-traditional settings working children and adults of all ages. If you are a student at SBAP you will see Sarah in the studio assisting with Demos as well as doing her own work.
