Event Overview
Have a problem with too much food waste and don't know what to do with it? Take this class to build a worm bin that will take care of heavy trash bags and smelly garbage.
This class will feature expert farmer, Jonathan Scheffel, who runs a composting delivery system in South Side Chicago. He will speak for a short period, then we will construct a worm bin made from storage bins, soil, old newspapers, cardboard, and of course worms (all provided!). Worms eat the food scraps and overtime their "castings" can be used for compost in planting pots or small gardens and serve as the most effective form of compost! Instructions on how to care for and maintain the worm bin will also be provided.
Anyone interested in home gardening and improvement projects will benefit from making a worm bin that can be tucked under your sink or placed next to the trash! A quick and easy solution to an age-old problem!
