Event Overview

Have you ever had an idea for a novel, but didn't know where to start the process of writing it? How do you find the time, the motivation, the ability to ignore your self-doubts? You've heard of people who have actually completed and published novels, sometimes more than once. Bookstores are full of them! Wouldn't it be nice to be able to sit down with one of those authors and pick their brain?

Jerry Sacher is one of those rare authors who has published multiple novels -- four of them, in fact. Jerry has taken his hard-earned experience and transformed it into a workshop for up-and-coming authors. For the first time, he will let you into his creative process. He will also lead inspiring writing exercises, which will explore such useful topics as developing core characters and busting plot cliches.

The workshop will also include a no-holds-barred Question and Answer session. This is your chance to pick an author's brain. Ask him anything! Where do you get your ideas? How do you submit a draft to a publisher? What happens during the editing process? Have you ever had a book proposal rejected, and how did you deal with that?

One lucky attendee will receive a free copy of Jerry's new book, Fair in Love! Extra copies will be available for purchase, and Jerry will stick around after the workshop to sign books. This is your chance to not only meet and greet an author, but to dig deep into his creative process. Let the mysteries of writing a novel be revealed!

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Jerry Sacher currently lives in Chicago with his partner Dean and two cats in an apartment crammed with books. When he’s not writing, his interests are San Francisco, the Titanic, and listening to records on an antique phonograph. He has published four novels of adventure and romance. The first two comprise The Saint of San Francisco series and follow a police officer and his unofficial partner in justice. The third novel is a love story set during one of Jerry's favorite periods of history, the Russian Revolution. His fourth novel explores the price of fame, both for a celebrity and an ordinary man who falls in love with him....
