Event Overview

One thing’s for sure: movement is key to living a long and healthy life. If you practice Nia, you know just how good movement can feel!

While there are lots of body parts that make motion possible, joints provide us with some of the most
important mechanics for moving. We will learn how to sense healthy joints in stillness and in motion, and learn how to mobilize and use joints to self-heal and gain the conditioning benefits you desire from your movement practice.

Nia is a sensory-based mixture of dance arts, martial arts, and healing arts. It empowers people of all shapes and sizes by connecting the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Every experience can be adapted to individual needs and abilities; stiff beginners and highly fit athletes alike can adapt Nia to meet their needs.

I loved this class! Emily is a wonderful teacher, and at the end of class I was not only aware of my joints but also feeling wonderful after the workout.

Nia was great fun! It was very move-at-your-own-pace, and there was a lot of emphasis on listening to your body. The teacher was very sweet and helpful, talking to us before hand about what to expect and working on our alignment. The hour seemed to fly by, even though we were working pretty hard. I was a sweaty mess by the end, but I was all smiles. You've got to try it!
