Event Overview
"It's not that I can't dance at ALL...it's just that I don't really know what to DO on the dance floor. It feels like I just step-touch over and over." Sound familiar? Dancing starts with moving to music, but the fun takes off when you make that movement your own. This class will help you gain comfort and expressiveness on the dance floor. You will be practicing with songs you're likely to hear at this season's weddings and parties--the classics and the latest hits.
We will start by reinforcing rhythm- and body-awareness. We will then work on discovering different layers and feelings in music, different layers and feelings in our own movements, and fluidity and transitions. You will leave with new knowledge about finding--and communicating--your own personal dance style. This is not a partnered dance class. It is for free-form social dancing such as at weddings and holiday parties.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST
Kaara Kallen is living proof that dancing feet are made, not born. After a youth spent cowering from dance floors of all kinds, Kaara learned as an adult to connect movement to rhythm in the humble confines of a YMCA step-aerobics class. She went on to discover a world of moving pursuits, including capoeira, go-go, salsa, swing, and yoga. Kaara is now an avid social dancer, a dance and dance-fitness instructor, and a choreographer, and a co-director of the '60s-style go-go troupe the Revelettes. Kaara believes that dancing is just about the best thing you can do for your body, heart, and soul, and is excited to share the magic with others.

I really enjoyed the class! It was well planned out for the most part and I had a good time. The music list and the moves were fun as well.
