Event Overview

Photography has two sides, we might say, equating to the left and right sides of our brain: Technical and Creative. A technically correct photo isn't necessarily a creative, interesting or dramatic one. Technically correct photos may not hold your viewers attention as long as you'd like in this instant world, so let's take your photos to the next level and get creative!

In this highly interactive class, you will:

1. Progress your skills beyond the camera buttons and "What is aperture, shutter speed and ISO?" to becoming creative with the tools you have

2. Learn rules of composition and when it may be good to break them

No more snapshots for you! This class will be a touch of Chicago tour, a lot of using your eyes and a fun using Chicago as our sandbox!

Who will benefit the most from participation:

- New camera owners who have taken the "settings" workshops / boot camps and are ready for the next step

- Anyone convinced they don't have a creative bone in their body but have the desire to capture life around them

- Someone planning an upcoming trip / vacation who wants to do more than "click and go"

- Novice, hobbyist, smartphone user

 

Please NOTE: This is NOT a class to learn the settings / buttons on your camera. You should have a comfortable understanding of your gear before arriving.

 

If you're more advanced with your photography than this, keep an eye out for the more advanced composition class I'll be offering this Fall.

 

What to Bring

Camera, smartphone, fully charged battery, empty/formatted memory card or enough room on smartphone for photos

Prerequisites

You should already have taken a beginner's photography workshop. You should feel comfortable with your camera settings and have an understanding of what aperture, shutter speed and ISO are.
