In this class, you’ll learn the advanced sewing techniques listed below, building on what you learned in Sewing 101.
You’ll make a sample for each new technique to add to your sewing binder with notes on how you made it. You’ll also use each technique on a fancy tote bag project, so when you’re through you’ll have both references to look back through, and a demonstrations of the techiques that you’ve done yourself.
If you haven’t taken 101, you can still take the class, but you need to be able to confidently operate a sewing machine and create basic seams to attend.

We will meet once a week on Wednesday evening
Time - 6-9pm for 6 weeks

Bias facing
Easing
Sewing curved shapes
Sewing V points
Lapped zipper
Box pleats
Stitch in the ditch
Double welt pocket
Use batting and a walking foot to make a quilt square
Smocking with elastic a.k.a ruching
Use a twin needle for stitching
Use a gathering foot
Use the bias binding foot and make bias tape
Sew picot elastic

This class is limited to 10 people, so make sure to sign up early! The studio is spaced out for social distancing. You must wear a face mask at all times, use hand sanitizer, and wipe down your space. Each person has a station with a sewing machine reserved for them, so no refunds are offered on classes. If you miss a class, links to videos on the topics covered will be provided that you can work through in your own time.

Anastasia Chatzka is a Chicago based fashion designer with over 20 years of sewing, pattern drafting, and design experience. She has refined her skills through the years while working with renowned industry professionals, including Betsey Johnson and Anna Sui. Anastasia also has a BFA in fashion design. She is also a brand ambassador for Husqvarna Viking sewing machines.
Anastasia is the owner of the Anastasia Chatzka clothing line and Sew Anastasia Sewing Studio where she designs, teaches sewing classes, and films the content for her YouTube sewing channel, Sew Anastasia.
