Event Overview

Interested in going solo? In this class, we will discuss the pros and cons of traveling alone and give you the tools to hatch a plan.

  • Where is a good destination for your solo trip?

  • How long will you travel?

  • When will you go?

  • What will it cost?

Then, we'll explore some of the nitty gritty details:

  • Finding a flight

  • Finding accommodations

  • Meeting people

  • Food and drink

  • Internet and phone

  • Insurance

  • Volunteer opportunities

There will be time at the end of class to answer your questions and discuss individual issues.

Alexis Steinkamp has been accused of passport abuse. In the last few years, she's traveled over 60K miles and visited many beautiful places including Medellin, Lisbon, Porto, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Montreal, Victoria BC and Amsterdam. And, she's learned a thing or two about designing alternative travel on a budget.

Please note: This class is at Trilogy Interactive, 4525 N Ravenswood Street. Ravenswood is actually two streets divided by the Metro tracks. The location is on the EAST side of the tracks. There is usually plenty of parking in front of the building and the Brown Line Montrose stop is about 2 blocks away.

Organizing your finances shouldn't be painful! I used to be a starving artist. Then, I figured out how to use my creativity to manage my finances and design an alternative lifestyle. It was a game changer. I worked hard, saved money, bought property, sold it, hatched plans, made lots of lists, etc. Then I wrote a book about it: "Thrifty Girl Kicks Your Financial Butt"

Today, I'm a digital nomad. I don't have a permanent home. I work part time and travel the globe in search of sunny weather, inspirational places and meaningful moments. Read all about my adventures at https://freerangechickblog.wordpress.com. I also write a personal finance blog at https://thriftygirladventures.wordpress.com. I enjoy sharing my story and insights with anyone who's curious.
