Stamped Scarves

Arts & DIY
Nothing says comfy quite like a soft jersey scarf wrapped around your neck when the cold weather hits. Even better is when you’ve made it your own by stamping it with a pattern you make yourself!
In this class, you will learn to design and carve your own linoleum-block stamp and then use it to decorate your scarf with a cool, personalized pattern. You’ll leave for the afternoon with the scarf around your neck and a stamp in your hand, as well as the instructions and skills to make more at home!
All ages welcome

Abbey made her first linoleum block in a textiles class 12 years ago (no... it CAN'T be that long!) and has been in love with them ever since. She likes to see how something flat can become a dynamic pattern print for a shirt, or the perfect stamp for a handmade card.
This is a review of your location and a recommendation. We missed the class because it is very difficult to find, and not the neighborhood to be walking around in after dark. This neighborhood may be on the up and coming during the day but at night it is very unsafe! The studio is located at the back of another storefront, and the signage is poor! The nearest parking is across the street and is unlit and dangerous and the lot next to the building is half way down the block! There were people loitering on the sidewalk, homeless people pushing carts down the sidewalk, it was just really bad juju and so my friend and I missed a class we'd very much wanted to attend. Recommend no classes after dark and better signage before I come again.
Hi Marlene, and thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry you missed the class last night, and would like to address a few of your concerns regarding the safety of the area for the future. In addition to my business, Wine & Whey, EXDO, and many of our other neighbors host monthly events, some with thousands of attendees, and safety of guests has never been an issue. In my short time in the neighborhood, I haven't had problems with loitering or vagrancy of any kind, though the two public transit stops located adjacent to the space do often have people waiting for busses. I would be happy to send two kits with all of the equipment and instructions for you and your friend or schedule a time that works better for you.
I am available Tuesday through Friday from 3pm until 8pm, and on weekends from 12pm - 5pm, as well as by appointment outside of those times. Should you have any other questions, comments, or concerns, I can be reached by phone at 303-815-9270 or via e-mail at abbey@thecartelstudio.com. You can also find more information on the studio's website: www.TheCartelStudio.com
