Event Overview

In this 4-hour training class we take you from beginner to intermediate or advanced WordPress user.

• This is for those beginning in their understanding of WordPress and WordPress Web Design & want to learn how to create and update content, pages, posts, how and where to find widgets and install some, how to use the Visual Editor toolbar, different types of hosting, what it is, what exactly WordPress is and more.

This is not ideal for intermediate or advanced WordPress users.

Here is what we will cover:

• Introduction to web hosting
• types of web hosting free vs. paid
• types of content management systems and why WordPress
• WordPress Vs. Drupal and Joomla
• WordPress.com Vs. WordPress.org
• Self-hosting or paid hosting how it works
• WordPress overview
• Understanding user roles in using WordPress (and how to assign them)
• Blogging Basics and understanding how to control commenting ability
• How to create and edit static pages
• How to set them for password protection, privacy or future publication
• How to create and edit posts
• How to set them for password protection, privacy or future publication
• How to add YouTube videos to posts and pages
• How to create a page to contain all blog posts and use the widgets for them
• How to add images and files to pages and posts
• How to find and select the best plugins for your uses
• My top ten favorite, most commonly used plugins for clients
• How and where to find free blogging content, including images for use

What to Bring

You should want to take notes so should bring a notebook and pens

Prerequisites

Attendees should be familiar with basic e-mail and computer use, familiar with Word, and interested in learning about WordPress, the world's most popular website development content management system.

There is no video taping or recording permitted.

Yes! I will provide a download of the presentation to all who sign up. The download is well over 150 pages and contains links to free ebooks and video tutorials as well.
